Having a character killed off in a show is nothing new, and it just had to be done to make an impact on the show. Viewers may think that the writers are having a good time writing off characters, but some writers experience emotional time writing the script for a death scene, just like when writers had to write the most memorable death scene on The Sopranos.

Some deaths in TV series are just unexpected and some are just unnecessary. Although it might seem otherwise, some deaths on TV make the storyline much more interesting, and it can help the plot of the show make sense. Among the death that make sense was when fans theorized about Jack’s death on This Is Us which made more sense upon taking a closer look. However, most of these deaths just kill off the interest of the viewers on the show just like how the characters’ deaths below have impacted on the interest of the show.

7 When Lexa Died On The 100

It has been emotionally exhausting week for the fans of The 100 when Lexa died right after she and Clarke finally consummated their slow paced relationship. The couple’s bliss was short-lived when Alycia Debnam-Carey's character was killed by a stray bullet just a few moments after they had made love. The fans went berserk and that the show’s creator and executive producer Jason Rothenberg even had to explain the reasoning behind Lexa's death. Lexa's demise has disgusted fans that a lot of them stopped watching the show.

6 Logan’s Death On Veronica Mars

For some fans, Logan’s death on Veronica Mars is completely unnecessary and should have never happened. Just when Jason Dohring's character finally won Veronica over and agreed to marry him, he suddenly died to a car bomb which was left on the backseat of Veronica’s car. The bad boy heartthrob who has won over Veronica and the audience at the same time died after their tortured on-again-off-again romance. For the fans, his death was completely unnecessary and should have never happened. Some fans never wanted to watch the show again because of his death.

5 Villanelle’s Death On Killing Eve

Just when Eve and Villanelle finally had their first kiss, Villanelle was shot and died while trying to protect Eve. Initially, Villanelle was only shot on the shoulder, and she would have made it if only she did not try to protect Eve. She realized where the shooter is shooting from and decided to put herself between the shooter and Eve to save her. The viewers think that the death is needless considering that they had dedicated the entire episode showing Eve and Villanelle’s acceptance of their feelings for each other. Although Villanelle’s death seems unnecessary, TV Line tried to explain the death of Jodie Comer’s character.

4 Poussey’s Death On Orange Is The New Black

Poussey’s death on the series Orange is the New Black is among the most heartbreaking scenes on TV. She died while trying to calm down Suzanne when a protest went down in the prison’s cafeteria. Samira Wiley’s character was accidently suffocated when CO Bayley was restraining her. The scene initially started as a peaceful demonstration to protest against Captain Desi Piscatella’s unfair treatment of the inmates however it escalated quickly resulting to Poussey’s death. Her death is devastating to some fans that a lot of them just stopped watching the show altogether. Although her death might seem devastating, she had a great life after her life on the show, take a look at what Samira Wiley has been up to ever since she left Orange is the New Black.

3 When Carl Died On The Walking Dead

One of the most heartbreaking moments on TV was when Carl was bitten by a walker and Rick and Michonne just had to do nothing and watch him die. Right after Carl saved a new survivor, he was bitten by a walker while Rick and Michonne are sown just outside the sewer. In order to save everyone including his father, Carl decided to just kill himself before he turns to a walker himself. After all the hardship of Rick to keep Carl alive, fans were infuriated that Carl died just like that.

2 Maeve’s Death On Criminal Minds

Just when Reid thought that he was able to convince Diane to spare Maeve’s life and let him live, she went on to kill herself and then shot Maeve too. On the Zugzwang episode of Criminal Minds, Maeve’s stalker Diane decided to kidnap her and after all the attempts of Reid to save her life, she was still killed during the abduction. For the viewers, the love story between Reid and Maeve is among the most heartbreaking in the series and Maeve’s death is just unforgivable.

1 Shay’s Death On Chicago Fire

Shay suddenly died on Chicago Fire after she was struck by the collapsing pipe during some explosion which happened inside the building. The executive producer of the show Matt Olmstead explained that they decided to kill off Lauren German’s character since killing Shay would make a big impact rather than killing some minor characters on the show.
